Helms Center, Monterrey Tec and SELIDER Announce Joint Initiative Results
12/28/2005
The Helms Center, Monterrey Tec and the Mexican national youth leadership organization SELIDER have announced the preliminary results of their joint initiative to take the Laws of Life Essay Contest throughout the Monterrey Tec school system, as well as to SELIDER organizations all over Mexico.
This joint initiative, funded by the John Templeton Foundation and begun in October of 2003, has to date produced over 8,000 essays in a series of contests across Mexico. Previous contests were conducted in various schools in the towns of Monterrey, Queretaro, Xalapa and Mexico City and at regional and national meetings of SELIDER. Over the course of the next eighteen months, the contest will be offered to all thirty three different high schools within the Monterrey Tec school system and to all twenty SELIDER regional conferences -- with both organizations conducting national contests at the conclusion of the school year.
The Laws of Life Essay Contest is a character education program developed by the John Templeton Foundation that is active in over fifty countries around the world. Any individuals or schools within Mexico interested in the Laws of Life should contact Erika Garza at erika.garza@itesm.mx.
